  • (1)《誘いの表現:Level》
  • 1: Level-2:普通の表現
     1・Would you like to come to my place Friday evening?
     →It is not very casual and not very formal, so you can use it in almost any
    situation.
  • 2: Level-3:丁寧な表現
    1・I was wondering if you would like to join us for a drink.
      →It is a formal way to make an invitation.
    ※Remember that with this expression you must use the past tense.
  • 3: Level-4:極めて丁寧な表現
    1・I would like to invite you to a dinner party.
     →It is used in very formal situation.

 

  • (2)《歓迎の言葉》
  • 1: It's nice of you to come.
    2: We've been expecting you.  (*2: p28)
    3: How nice of you to come!   (*2: p29)
    4: It's my pleasure having you here. (*3: p155)
  • 3[返答]→It's so nice (very kind ) of you to invite me for dinner.
     Thank you for inviting us to your home tonight. (*3: p155)

 

  • (3)《食事への賛美&食事へのお礼の言葉》
  • [賛美]
    1: The salad is very tasty.
    2: These potatoes are delicious. (*2: p88)
    3: This is very excellent. (*3: p161)
  • [食事お礼]
    1: Thank you very much for the wonderful lunch. (*2: p161)
    2: Thank you (very much) for the excellent dish.
    3: Thank you (very much) for the wonderful evening.
    4: Thank you (very much) for your kind hospitality.
    5: I don't know how to thank you enough for giving me such a nice party.(*3: p165)
    6: I've had a very good meal.

  • (4)《食事表現のsomeとany》
  • ★some (something) とany (anything)の疑問文についての疑義
    ⇒参考書などでa)の表現が見られるが、b)のような表現もあり、c)のように使い分けた方が良い。
  • a) Won't you have some cookies? (*5: p72)
  • b) Do you want anything to drink with that? (*6 :p134)
    And would you like anything to drink? (*6: p135)
    Would you like anything else with that? (*4: p157) (*7: p92)
  • c)知人等へ親切(無償で)からでる場合⇒someやsomething (商売等で)相手に無理強いしない時→anyやanythingが望ましいように思われる
